Chips, cracks, and stains can cause you to feel self-conscious about your smile. Porcelain veneers are thin porcelain shells that can be placed on the front surfaces of teeth to conceal these imperfections and help you feel great about your smile. At Smile Designer of Leesburg, Dr. Daniel Han can design and place custom veneers. We offer prepless and traditional porcelain veneers to meet your needs. Our team in Leesburg, VA, is dedicated to patient satisfaction. We will plan your treatment with your goals in mind and use the finest materials for natural-looking results.
What Can Porcelain Veneers Treat?
Porcelain veneers are a versatile cosmetic treatment that can be used to address:
- Misshapen teeth
In some cases, veneers can also conceal minor misalignment. However, Invisalign® may be more appropriate if you have more substantial malocclusion.
Are Porcelain Veneers Right for Me?
Porcelain veneers are not recommended for every patient, including those who suffer from temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder or bruxism. However, if you have these conditions and use a mouth guard, you may be able to protect your veneers from damage.
Candidates must also be in good oral health. If you suffer from gum disease, damaged teeth, or a dental infection, these conditions must be resolved prior to cosmetic treatment. During your consultation, Dr. Han will conduct a thorough examination and discuss your goals to determine whether porcelain veneers are the best treatment option for you.
Prepared vs. Prepless Veneers
Our practice offers two types of porcelain veneers: prepless and prepared. Prepless veneers are usually only recommended for patients who need little to no alteration to their teeth in order to achieve natural-looking results.
Prepared veneers require the removal of some dental enamel, usually equal to the thickness of an eggshell. This allows the veneer to lay flush with surrounding teeth. If your dentist determines that a prepless veneer would protrude, or if you need a thicker veneer to conceal certain imperfections, a traditional veneer may be the better choice. We will conduct a careful analysis of your smile to determine which option will provide you with the greatest benefits.
Designing Your Custom Veneers
Porcelain veneers are a highly customized treatment. When planning your treatment, the doctor will work with you to personalize all aspects of your veneers for truly flatting results that meet your goals. We use lithium disilicate or IPS® e.max materials matched to your surrounding teeth for natural-looking results. Our practice has worked with the same lab for over a decade to provide our patients with outstanding results.
Placing Your Veneers
Your doctor will complete any necessary preparatory work before taking an impression of the teeth you wish to treat. The impression will be sent to our lab, and in about two weeks, your veneers will be ready for placement.
